Filming the Porsche Classic PCCM+ Commercial in California

When a production company reaches out to you on your social media page and asks if you would want to shoot a commercial with the new PCCM+ and Porsche Rooftop Tent, you might think it’s a scam. Lucky for us, it wasn’t! Filming with Porsche Classic and LOOP Media was by far one of the coolest experiences we’ve had with our Cayenne! We couldn’t have been happier to showcase where and why we love overlanding! We made life long friends and have enjoyed our overlanding trips even more with the new PCCM+ and Porsche Rooftop Tent!!

On April 23rd, we met with the film crew from Porsche to capture shots “leaving the city. For the next four days we would make our way north along 395 to Bishop, California, stopping along some of our favorite go-to spots to explore and camp.

Located off Highway 395, about 40 miles south of Lone Pine, sits a desolate area known as Fossil Falls. There is one sign for it each way, and if you blink, you can miss it. This is a great stopping point on your way north and if you have the time to take the short mile-long hike, we’d be willing to bet what awaits you is something you have probably never seen before.

This otherworldly site was formed by the interaction of rushing water from the Owens River (which in wetter prehistoric times flowed at a much higher rate) with lava that poured from nearby volcanoes as recently as 20,000 years ago. The result is this surreal, convoluted chasm of shiny, sculpted black lava.

Not much further is another incredible sight, Alabama Hills.

On our second day of filming, we stayed in Lone Pine, CA, and got up before dawn to film at Alabama Hills. Some of you might notice the particularly low snow levels in these photos. The winter of 2022/2023 was particularly cold, and California experienced record snowfall. Even though we have been here more times than we can count, this was a sight we have never seen before, and might not ever again.

Day three we spent time in Bishop filming shots in downdown, later heading to the Volcanic Tablelands to capture what we love the most…dispersed camping. Nothing beats being out in “the middle of nowhere” surrounded by nature.

One of the many reasons we love visiting this area is because of our friends Spencer and Sam. As Porsche Cayenne owners themselves, we have gone off-roading with them throughout this entire region. There are always new trails and places to explore.

We ended our time in Bishop with some fun along the rivers, and even jumped in one of the warm pools nearby at sunset, for the epic closing shot of the video! Watch the final video below!
